About

Traction Project is a Portland 501(c)(3) running teamwork-based skill trainings for communities marginalized by gender, including martial arts and self-defense, powersports vehicle repair mentorships, and fine art classes built for people who feel vulnerable at other venues. Students often become volunteer facilitators and board members, making programs by and for the communities they serve. Backed by trans-focused funders; contact contact@traction-project.org.

You can start by just showing up.
  • You're not safe at home"Unsafe at home" can mean many things: intimate partner violence, family violence, family rejection, stalking, roommate conflict, or exploitation. You don't have to label what's happening to reach out. This path covers the immediate steps for getting safe, how to access shelter (including culturally specific programs for LGBTQ+, Latina/o, Black, Native, and immigrant survivors), housing rights Oregon law gives you, and financial help available only to survivors.
