Our Just Future (formerly Human Solutions)

Our Just Future (formerly Human Solutions) has served East Portland and East Multnomah County for over 36 years, focusing on housing stability, economic justice, and racial equity. The organization operates three shelters and transitional housing programs that move people into permanent housing as quickly as possible.

Gresham Women's Shelter: Emergency shelter for anyone who identifies as a woman, nonbinary, or genderqueer. Located in Gresham. Intake is via voicemail, call 971-333-1223 and leave your name and contact information to be screened for eligibility and placed on the referral list.

East Portland Women's Shelter: Emergency shelter for women, nonbinary, and genderqueer adults in East Portland.

Lilac Meadows Family Shelter: Emergency shelter for families (one or more adults with at least one minor child, or individuals in their third trimester of pregnancy). No walk-up access; intake exclusively through 211.

Beyond shelter, Our Just Future offers transitional housing and Housing First programs that link residents to case management, employment services, and benefits navigation to reach permanent housing.

Case manager notes: For gender-expansive clients, the Gresham Women's Shelter explicitly accepts nonbinary and genderqueer individuals, this is one of the more trans-inclusive shelter options in Multnomah County. Call 211 first for coordinated entry, or call 971-333-1223 directly for the Gresham shelter. The main org line (503-548-0200) can help navigate which program is the best fit.
