Helping Hands Against Violence, founded in 1978, provides emergency shelter, advocacy, and support to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Hood River County. Its Chrysalis House shelter offers private family rooms (up to a 30-day stay), a shared kitchen and living space, and is pet-friendly; the agency also runs a transitional housing program for young crime survivors ages 16-24. Staff explicitly serve women, men, and transgender people fleeing abuse. The 24-hour hotline is 541-386-6603.
