Street Roots gives people experiencing homelessness and poverty a way to earn income by selling its award-winning weekly newspaper. You walk in, go through orientation, get ten free papers to start, then buy each copy for a quarter and sell it for a dollar, keeping all profits and tips. Street Roots also publishes the Rose City Resource, the most comprehensive printed guide to services across Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington counties, updated every June and December and free to pick up at their office. 211 NW Davis St, Portland, 503-228-5657. Office open Monday to Friday 7:30am to 3pm, Saturday 7:30am to 2pm, Sunday 7:30am to 11am.
