Milk Crate Kitchen is a BIPOC-led nonprofit that cooks and delivers cost-free, nutrient-dense family meals to households facing food insecurity, using rescued food to keep costs low. Founded in 2020, it has provided thousands of family meals across the Portland area. Its site names LGBTQIA+ people among the communities it serves; anyone in need can request a meal with no questions asked.
